DESIGN FOR JUSTICE CONFERENCE 2026

The second Design for Justice Conference was hosted in partnership with Museum of Goa in January 2026. Conceived as an ecosystem-building initiative in Goa, it brought together diverse actors to collaboratively engage with questions of justice.

Structured around creative and participatory exercises, the conference aimed to map opportunities and challenges within the justice landscape while fostering dialogue, collaboration, and community-led responses. The conference also responded to emerging concerns around belonging, development, ecology, and access to justice within Goa.

It created an open and inclusive space where participants could situate themselves within justice work in their own ways, without privileging any single sector or discipline. This approach enabled shared learning, unexpected connections, and the emergence of new solidarities. The two-day event was designed to deepen engagement over time, with the second day opening up to a wider public audience to share ideas and encourage broader dialogue.

The key reflections, discussions, and insights that emerged across both days are captured here in our report.

DESIGN FOR JUSTICE CONFERENCE 2023

Justice Adda and Kokum  Design Trust in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung hosted the Design for Justice Fellowship in 2022-2023.

As part of the fellowship students from BITS, Pilani, Goa College of Architecture and Salagaocar College of Law explored specific justice institutions in Goa. Through the case study they sought to identify the gaps in access to justice in these spaces and what possible solutions could be applied.

In January 2023, the fellowship culminated in the Design for Justice Conference held in Goa from January 6th-8th at the International Centre, Goa which brought together leading academics, designers, lawyers and activists.

The case study was presented by the fellows at the conference alongside exploratory papers by practitioners, researchers, activists and academics from varied fields. These papers also addressed the question of access to justice within Goa. They looked at the different ways justice spaces, justice makers and justice users could be reimagined to make a more equitable space.

The takeaways from the case study are shared here in an infographic format. The proceedings of the conference have been put together in the report shared here. All the essays presented and the case study have been published in  our book: Justice Making, Justice Spaces and Justice Users.
